Editorial Standards
Publishing policy
Evidence should be distinguishable from assumptions.
These standards describe the approach to preparing and revising DCF Analyst articles, company resources and model descriptions. They help readers assess what a resource says, what supports it and what remains uncertain.
Our editorial standards
- Identify the subject and scope. Use the correct company, reporting period, currency and units. State the analytical question and material limitations.
- Prefer primary evidence. Use regulatory filings, annual reports, company announcements and other original records for material company facts. A third-party summary or generated draft is not a substitute for the underlying evidence.
- Separate facts, estimates and interpretation. Historical results, forecast assumptions, model outputs and editorial judgment should not be presented as interchangeable.
- Check the calculation and context. Review formulas, units and the assumptions that drive an output. Compare like periods and explain material differences where relevant.
- Disclose uncertainty and commercial interests. Make the limits of a resource clear. DCF Analyst sells models and research products; links to those products support the site.
- Correct material errors. Assess credible correction reports against the source or reproducible calculation. A substantive revision should identify the issue and clarify what changed.
Tools and editorial responsibility
Software and AI tools may assist with organizing information, drafting or calculations. Their output is not independent evidence. Material claims and model inputs still need comparison with appropriate sources.
Team biographies explain the professional background behind the platform. Where an article identifies a named contributor, use its byline and linked profile to understand that person's role.
Report a correction
Contact DCF Analyst with the page or product URL, the exact statement or cell in question, the relevant reporting period, and a source link or reproduction steps. Avoid sending account passwords, payment information or confidential documents.
Newer filings, changed assumptions and market developments can make older analysis outdated without making the original historical record incorrect. Always compare the dates.
